Remember to Smile

Remember ‘picture day’ in elementary school? You probably waited in line with your classmates to have a photographer take two or three shots of you. You probably also heard your teachers saying, over and over again, “smile.”  And they we’re right! Smiling and showing your teeth is an important step in human connecting.

A study done by PhotoFeeler of over 800 people and 60,000 photos puts some data behind what your teachers always told you.

“By far the most impactful characteristic we found in this study, though, is a particular kind of smile...A smile with teeth visible gains an average of +0.33 for Competence, +1.35 for Likability, and +0.22 for Influence.”

Think about going to a restaurant. A nice restaurant. A fancy restaurant. One which you’ve been dreaming about taking that special person in your life for a long time. When you visualize yourself walking into that establishment, smelling the beautiful smells that waft through the air, ask yourself a question: Do you picture the restaurant staff smiling or frowning?

If you want your customers to have a great buying experience, start your interaction with a smile.
